Somewhere in the 13th century, a man named Mangcho — part monk, part merchant, entirely his own thing — decided that trade didn't have to be dishonest, loud, or embarrassing. So he gathered a crew of craftsmen he called the Bellsmiths, swore them to plain speech and exact weight, and hit the road.
They sold fine goods out of handmade bells. Yes, bells. It made sense at the time.
